House Design. 2 Methods to Generate Ideas.

October 10, 2023 at 7:00 am, No comments
The exterior design of your house includes tasks like figuring what you like, what others will like and what can you afford and it can be a challenge.
Similarly to the layout, the design of your house can be entrusted fully to the architect, but having some ideas beforehand can be very helpful. Here are 2 methods we used to come up with ideas for our house.

 1st Method - Finding Examples

During the process of figuring out a layout, we explored various designs of German houses. However, we realized that this was not exactly what we wanted, so we turned our attention to the architecture of the northern part of Europe and discovered that Scandinavian design resonated with us more. This design style incorporates simple shapes, natural materials, and colors that blend harmoniously with nature.
To find inspiration, we used the same keywords, "Single Family House" and "Prefabricated house," and conducted searches on Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish Google to find examples. Additionally, platforms like Pinterest and Google Image search also provided us with additional ideas using similar keywords.
Here are some of the sites we used for design ideas:

https://www.weberhaus.de
https://www.hanse-haus.de
https://hellvikhus.no/
https://skalahus.no/

2nd Method - Driving Around

In every city and its surrounding areas, there are neighborhoods where most of the new houses are constructed. We selected a few of the most popular areas and drove around them. We took photos of the various houses that appealed to us. What we looked at was facade materials, colors, design, other interesting ideas.

Conclusion

We gathered all the materials, including photos and web pictures, to distill our vision for the appearance of our future house. We then provided these materials to the architect for their consideration.
